1.      To provide a quality, stimulating and relevant learning environment.

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
 
WILFORD SCHOOL
 
Wilford School decile 6, full primary school of 315 students. It is a multicultural school that draws students from a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. There are two bilingual classes catering for students from Year 1 to Year 6 and intermediate classesThe school welcomes international students.  
 
Wilford School is situated in a mixed urban area, close to an extensive retail area, railway station and bus route. Students not only come from the Petone/Alicetown area, but from the wider Hutt Valley area. In 2010 the main ethnic groups are 42% NZE, 38% Maori, 9% Pasifika, 6% Asian plus 5% other. Most students have attended pre-schools.
 
Wilford School has excellent facilities including: a hall which is widely used by the community;  a heated, covered swimming pool; a large playing field;  tennis courts;  adventure playgrounds;  and a variety of spacious playing areas.
